Cholesterol is an integral part of each cell and is required by our body to work properly. However, not all cholesterol is good. There is a “bad” kind and a good kind. The bad kind is called LDL (Low-Density Lipoprotein) cholesterol and the good kind is called HDL (High-Density Lipoprotein) cholesterol. The bad cholesterol circulating in the bloodstream can accumulate in blood vessels, blocking normal blood flow, leading to heart attack & other circulatory complications. HDL or good cholesterol helps to clean this bad cholesterol. However, two-third of the total cholesterol in the body is LDL Cholesterol. So, higher the cholesterol, greater is the risk of heart disease and stroke
